Thirteen 13s Challenge is complete

Yay! I have completed the Thirteen 13s challenge I set myself this year and have raised £820 so far, for Robyn’s quest for comfort. Last year I ran Manchester marathon for Robyn who suffered brain damage at birth and now has lots of health problems which my daily life very difficult. I am so happy to have been able to raise some more money for Robyn with this challenge, thank you so much to everyone who has sponsored me.

This challenge was to run 13 half marathons this year, it turned out I managed to do them all in 9 months and stay injury free! I would have loved one of them to be a sub 2 hour but with stomach problems, hospital appointments and procedures and 6 colds I knew the goal was out of reach, the challenge became about finish lines and not finish times and Im so happy I managed to cross all 13 finish lines.

Would I do the challenge again? possibly not! thats not to say I didn’t enjoy every race, its just my feet hurt and Im tired! I have my sights set on a trail ultra next year so thirteen half marathon races may not be the best preparation. Ive been asked which was my favourite half marathon, Ive two, if thats allowed? I really enjoyed Reading half marathon (thats where Dave is from), the atmosphere was brilliant and finishing in the Madjeski stadium was great. My other favourite was Macclesfield half, this is my running club’s half marathon so the support I had there was amazing, my fellow harriers were all over the course encouraging me on, which was a fantastic feeling.

I would also recommend Congleton half marathon, Leek half marathon if you like hills, and Cannock chase trail half for trail running.

There is still time to donate to Robyn’s quest for comfort through my Just Giving page , thanks again to everyone who sponsored me on this challenge.
